2018 Scholarship Luncheon

Panoramic photo of the Scholarship LuncheonOn March 22, 2018, Phoenix Academy hosted its annual Scholarship Luncheon at the Hilton Downtown Omaha.  Over 325 people came out to eat lunch, listen to the speakers, award recipients and show their support for Phoenix Academy. Our keynote speaker was the nationally known expert on learning disabilities, Rick Lavoie.

Mr. Lavoie spoke about the experience all students have, how school is their job and their entire identity. But when some students have difficulty because of a learning disability, school becomes frustrating.  Phoenix Academy is the only school in our area that offers specialized teaching that is data driven and explicitly shows the success students can achieve learning to read.

Phoenix Academy alumni, current students and parents also spoke about the impact the school has made on their lives.

Two literacy champions of our community, Jessie Rasmussen and the late Mildred Brown, were honored.  Mildred Brown received the Holland Literacy Advocate Award and Jessie Rasmussen received the Mactier/Clark Literacy Educator Award.

The luncheon was a great success. In order for us to keep serving the Omaha community, we need your support!

Please consider making a donation to keep helping as many students as possible….because children need to read to succeed!
