Phoenix Academy is proud to announce Laura Bush as the featured speaker at the Phoenix Academy Scholarship Luncheon. The 2013 luncheon will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha. Tickets go on sale August 15th.
One of the most beloved and admired American First Ladies, for decades Laura Bush has championed key issues in the field of education, health care, and human rights. “Laura Bush is the perfect speaker for our luncheon. As an elementary teacher, librarian and Honorary Ambassador for the UN Decade of Literacy, she is an advocate for reading,” says Phoenix Academy Executive Director Nancy Liebermann.
Mrs. Bush is the founder of both the Texas Book Festival and the National Book Festival in Washington D.C. She is also the author of the bestselling memoir, Spoken From The Heart.
Tickets for the luncheon will be available for sale starting August 15th and all proceeds will support student scholarships. In addition to Mrs. Bush’s remarks, the luncheon will also present the Ann Mactier/Patti Clark Literacy Educator Award and the Richard Holland Literacy Advocate Award, honoring two individuals who have made an impact in the Omaha metro in the area of literacy. Individual tickets are $100 and patron tickets are $150. For information on individual or corporate sponsorships please email Lisa Winton firstname.lastname@example.org
