Melissa has been a music specialist at Phoenix Academy since 2017. Outside of PA, Melissa is in her 19th year as a full-time Artist-Faculty member at the Omaha Conservatory of Music. She is the chair of OCoM’s strings department and serves on their DEIA committee. Melissa is currently serving as past-president of the Nebraska chapter of the American Strings Teacher Association (ASTA) and was just appointed to ASTA’s national studio teacher committee. Melissa is a founding member and manager of the Mahr String Quartet which just won Best Ceremony Music (2022) from Nebraska Wedding Day Magazine. Outside of 50 + weddings/events with her quartet, Mrs. Holtmeier subs with the Omaha and Lincoln symphonies and is the local violinist for Broadway shows and other national touring artists such as Mannheim Steamroller, The Eagles, Josh Groban, Mary J Blige and Rod Stewart. She also manages her husband’s photography business, Foton Foto, LLC, and is mom to their 6th grader, Ella, a 14 year old Siberian cat. This summer they got a goldendoodle puppy.
(Fun fact…Melissa’s dog is Bowie’s mama!) In her free time, she likes to do crossword puzzles, nap, stream TV and practice yoga.
