Our 2016 Summer Kickstart program is in full swing here at Phoenix Academy! Our students are enjoying making new friends while brushing up on their reading and math skills. One of the ways we encourage our students to read is through our R.E.A.D ( Reading Education Assistance Dogs) program. We bring in therapy dogs and our students get to read to them. It not only helps our students to build reading confidence, it also makes reading fun! We are so happy to have four therapy dogs visiting our school this summer: Barney, Sammie, Izzy and Coco Chanel. Izzy and Coco Chanel are part of an organization called “Paws for Friendship” which is a non-profit organization of volunteers sharing the unconditional love of their personal pets with people in need throughout the world. Thank you so much to the volunteers that make our R.E.A.D program possible. As you can see from the pictures, this program is a delight for both the kids and dogs alike!
